What Goes Wrong In Ajax Testing, And How To Solve These Problems

A Conversation with Narayan Raman and Frank Cohen

Our users, customers, and partners applaud us when we deliver Rich Internet Applications (RIA, using Ajax, Flex, and Flash.) They love the user experience, the desktop application feel, and the productivity RIA delivers. The problem is these RIA techniques introduce huge challenges for testers.

Our test tools need to support the thousands of new Web page objects from Ajax, the pages change dynamically, and the structures of the pages are often filled with tables and other complicated structures. Open Source Test (OST) tools and techniques emerge as a mature solution to testing Ajax applications.

In this screencast Narayan Raman, inventor of the Sahi test tool and CEO at Tyto Software, and Frank Cohen discuss the things that typically go wrong when creating test scripts for Ajax applications and how to work around the problems.

Narayan Raman, inventor of the Sahi open source test tool and founder at Tyto Software, knows more about Javascript in Ajax applications than anyone else we have met. The Sahi test tool is a winner for functional testing of Web applications and Rich Internet Applications (RIA, using Ajax, Flex, and Flash.)

This session is for software architects, developers, testers, and IT managers. The conversation present the problems in Ajax testing and product demonstrations to solve them.
